Coach Slife has been an offensive assistant since 2021. He leads the development of City High’s quarterbacks, plays a vital role directing practices and helps formulate the Little Hawk playbook. Slife’s coaching experience in the state of Iowa is wide ranging.
Slife enters his 24th season coaching football in Iowa. He has coached across some of the state’s most consistent high school programs, including fives stops as a coordinator.
From 2010-2015, Slife was head coach at West Liberty, where he twice led the Comets to second round playoff action. Previously, he also spent three seasons as a college position coach at Iowa Wesleyan.
Slife has led a deep quarterback room each of the past three seasons at City High. In 2021, he helped direct two sophomore quarterbacks to a 10-2 overall record, a school-record 540 points and a state semifinal appearance. In 2022, quarterback Drew Larson and wide receiver Akili Mattox earned All-State Second Team recognition. This season, the Little Hawks again count on leadership and playmaking from the passing game.
