Coach McKim was named offensive coordinator at City High in 2021. In his two seasons, the Little Hawks have consistently been among the top statistical producers in total offense and scoring in Class 5A and made back-to-back playoff appearances.ย
In 2021, City High scored a school record 540 points over 12 games en route to its first return to the UNI-Dome in 11 years. The season is remembered for punishing victories; the Little Hawks won their rivalry trophy games by a combined score of 140-12, and set the school single-game scoring record in week eight.
More importantly, the offensive brilliance was still there when it was needed most. Play-calling trickery helped boost City High to a major upset over perennial power Dowling Catholic, 21-17. The Little Hawks scored on trick plays in the final moments of each half to gut out their fourth straight victory to open the season and sky rocket into the rankings. The Little Hawks also outpaced quality opponents in the playoffs, defeating Urbandale, 47-21, in the first round before taking it to Cedar Rapids Kennedy, 32-13, to punch their ticket to the state semifinals.
Over the past two seasons, McKim has helped City High Football break 13 school records across both sides of the ball. Four Little Hawks have earned All-State honors for their offensive contributions.ย
McKim has extensive coaching experience at both the high school and college level.
